Shady Grove Medical Center

Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Maryland, has cared for its neighbors since 1979. The community hospital has earned national recognition for quality and safety, with repeated honors for heart care, stroke care and surgical services. More than 5,000 babies a year get their start at The Birth Center at Shady Grove, which includes a high-level neonatal intensive care unit. The hospital also provides specialized emergency and inpatient units for children, Montgomery County’s only Forensic Medical Unit to serve victims of abuse and neglect, and mental health services for both adults and children. The Shady Grove Adventist Aquilino Cancer Center offers comprehensive treatment and support to cancer patients and their families in one convenient location. Shady Grove Medical Center is part of the Adventist HealthCare system, which for more than a century has served the D.C. region with a mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

The Bernard Creeger
Bikur Cholim House

The Bernard Creeger Bikur Cholim House is a Jewish home away from home for patients and their families seeking lifesaving treatment at the National Institutes of Health and area hospitals. Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington is a not-for-profit, volunteer based service organization that provides assistance to people facing medical and related challenges.


Dimensions Healthcare System

Dimensions Healthcare System and its member institutions provide comprehensive quality healthcare services ranging from prenatal care, behavioral health, rehabilitative services and more. The Gladys Noon Spellman Family Health and Wellness Center, an affiliate of Dimensions, is located in Cheverly, MD.  The Family Health and Wellness Centers provide comprehensive services in the areas of women’s health, men’s health, family medicine to include pediatric health, internal medicine, and dental care.


Doctors Community Hospital

Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, MD, is a non-profit 163-licensed bed facility with services spaning from advanced diagnostic imaging to state-of-the-art robotic bariatric surgery. Medical care is provided at offices in Greenbelt, Bowie, Clinton, Camp Springs and Largo as well as Doctor’s Community Rehabilitation and Patient Care Center located on the hospital’s main campus in Prince George's County. 


Holy Cross Hospital

Holy Cross Hospital, founded in 1963 by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, is a 443-bed not-for-profit teaching hospital offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient health care services, with specialized expertise in women and infant services, senior services, surgery, neuroscience and cancer. 


Interfaith Works
Empowerment Center

The Interfaith Works Empowerment Center (IWEC) is located in the Progress Place Building off Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. The IWEC is a day and outreach program for adults experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County. At the center of its mission, Interfaith Works provides access to basic needs such as food, laundry, and shower facilities. The IWEC also offers its clients case management, health screenings, and a full calendar of recreational and therapeutic groups (i.e. behavioral health, recovery services, and yoga).


Joint Base Andrews Fisher House

Joint Base Andrews Fisher House, located at Andrews Air Force Base, MD, is “a home away from home” where military and veterans’ families stay at no cost while their loved ones receive treatment at major military and VA medical centers. 

In 2014-2015, 16 students from Walt Whitman High School participated in a special Youth Art For Healing project. The students’ twenty beautiful paintings in memory of Matt Papirmeister, cherished son of Jan and Chuck, and big brother to Sara, reflect the life of Matt and his family. Matt served in the US Army and was an Iraq War veteran, earning the Army Commendation Medal in addition to seven medals and ribbons. In August 2014, one week before his 25th birthday, Matt died of catastrophic injuries after being hit by a car while helping a person with their disabled vehicle. Matt’s heart and kidney live on in those who were given the Gift of Life, and his exuberant and kind spirit prevails. Matt’s family is very grateful for the love, kindness, and support they have received, the students’ amazing talent and commitment, and the many generous donations given in Matt’s memory to Youth Art For Healing.


Montgomery Village
Health Care Center

Montgomery Village Health Care Center in Montgomery Village, MD, offers comprehensive medical and physical rehabilitation to enable patients to regain their health and highest level of functioning before returning home. Rehabilitation services include physical, occupational, speech and respiratory for persons who have had a stroke, been in an accident, suffered a fracture, or had a joint replacement. Skilled medical services, therapy, and general and restorative services are also provided.


National Alliance on Mental Illness
of Montgomery County

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Montgomery County (NAMI MC) envisions a community where all persons affected by mental illness experience resiliency, recovery, acceptance, and wellness. NAMI MC is a local affiliate of the Nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI MC offers free classes and support groups throughout Montgomery County in Maryland, catering to both adults living with mental illness and their loved ones. In addition, NAMI MC’s free presentations are designed to educate audiences of a variety of backgrounds and ages about mental illness, warning signs and how to access help. NAMI MC’s programs currently reach over 22,000 individuals, including middle and high school students, throughout Montgomery County.


Suburban Hospital

Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD, is a community-based, not-for-profit hospital with 235 beds serving Montgomery County and the surrounding area. In 2009, Suburban Hospital became a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. The designated trauma center for Montgomery County, Suburban Hospital is affiliated with many local healthcare organizations, including the National Institutes of Health.


Walter Reed Fisher House
at Forest Glen Annex

The Fisher House at Forest Glen Annex, located in Silver Spring, MD, is “a home away from home” where military and veterans’ families stay at no cost while their loved ones receive treatment at major military and VA medical centers. There are 71 Fisher Houses located on 24 military installations and 29 VA medical centers.  Many more houses donated by the Fisher family and Fisher House Foundation are currently under construction or in design.
